The roller coaster ride of infertility is a crazy one. 1 in 8 couples face infertility, but very few must resort to using IVF. Even fewer than those must resort to using an egg donor. This is our story about our ride. Scary, exciting, and lonely at times...but in the end very much worth it.
Just the two of us...for now
And so the journey begins...

it's moving along
Emily called yesterday evening, letting us know that our donor flew into town this past Wednesday, and that her exam went well. Her ovaries look good, her blood pressure is fine, she passed everything with flying colors. Just as importantly, Emily said that the entire staff really liked her. Emily said that she was "graceful, poised, articulate" and had a beautiful smile. We were over the moon excited after getting off the phone. Now the donor has only another blood test for her prolactin level and her thyroid. If that goes well (and it should, based on all other tests), we wait until she begins her period. Once she does, she will begin on some birth control pills to initially synch her cycle up with mine. Oddly enough, it turns out that she's due on the 18th. I am due on the 16th. So it shouldn't be hard at all. As for me, same story...as soon as my cycle begins, I start on those evil birth control pills too. Then I wait until the first week of June to begin some other types of injections to get my uterine lining nice and thick for the transfer procedure that's set to happen sometime between June 25 - June 30. I cannot wait!! So exciting.
