Day 12

My body has been settling into the rhythm of the cycle the past handful of days. I finished the lupron injections 2 days ago, and upped the estradiol tablets. The increase in the estradiaol actually has me feeling me better than I have in years. However, we'll just have to see how I feel when in 5 days I begin the progesterone injections. Those are the injections that I am not looking forward to all; but it just goes to show that a gal will do anything to have a baby. I feel like I would champion on the show "Fear Factor" by now! Nothing scares this gal anymore.
Jeff begins his antibiotic tonight, which will surely make him feel a wee bit icky. Is it wrong that I secretly delight in that fact? Because it feels so right. LOL! After all, so far he's had it pretty damn good, considering his part entails going into a little room, looking at "fun" magazines, doing his thang. Ahhhh...the (un)romantic aspact of creating a family via assisted reproductive technology.
I spoke with our RE's nurse a short while ago, getting an update on our donor. Her recent ultrasound and E2 (estrogen) blood work looks very good, and it appears that she's developing an abundance of follicles for us. Hooray!!! She is set to fly into town this Friday, which makes it all the more real and exciting for us. Words cannot express just how thankful we are to this young woman for choosing to be our donor. In a small way of thanking her, we got her a pretty necklace from Tiffany & Co. that reads "Dream A Little Dream" on it. Enclosed in the card is a lyric from the song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", and a heartfelt message from Jeff & I. Our donor is heavily into theatre, acting, singing, so we felt it was appropriate for her. We also have some orchids from the Vera Wang collection being delivered to her hotel upon her arrival into town. To top it all off, Jeff's mother got the donor a gift card to The Melting Pot for her enjoyment. So sweet of her to do! These things are the least we could do for this gal. The compensation we're paying her is simply to cover her time, pain, and discomfort. I strongly encourage any women who are the appropriate age to consider becoming an egg donor. It's the most giving thing you could possibly do in your lifetime.

  1. I'm glad your feeling better, at least for the time being! Hopefully the progesterone doesn't mess up you're new found rhythm too much. How sweet of you and Jeff and of his mother to offer up such wonderful gifts. Especially the necklace with the note from you and Jeff. I'm keeping you at the top of my happy thoughts and prayer list :)
